Role overview

The Senior IT Support Specialist will serve as a key member of the IT organization, delivering broad technical assistance and helping keep hardware, software, and network systems running reliably across multiple locations in Canada. Based in Kitchener, Ontario, the role supports both the local office and remote sites and serves as the main contact for troubleshooting, maintenance, and asset oversight. The position suits someone who is self-driven, technically strong, and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll do

  • Provide support for hardware and software across the Kitchener office and remote locations, including diagnosing and fixing issues with computers, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and telecommunication tools.
  • Oversee IT assets by coordinating deployment, retirement, disposal, and recycling of equipment in line with company standards.
  • Act as the local IT liaison by working with network and communications teams, reporting incidents, carrying out hardware swaps, and performing power cycles in the main computer room.
  • Deliver both remote and on-site end-user support with a focus on quick resolution and strong customer service.
  • Partner with the IT Service Desk and PC Shop teams, taking ownership of escalations that require hands-on support.
  • Contribute to IT initiatives such as planning, research, and implementation, with possible travel within Canada.
  • Support network setup and troubleshooting, including routers, switches, and IP configuration, and assist with server-related tasks when needed.
  • Keep accurate records of support work, inventory, and procedures to help operations run efficiently.
  • Stay current with technology trends and best practices and suggest improvements where appropriate.

Requirements

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as A+, Cisco, and Network+ are strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT support and infrastructure management.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience as a PC service technician, including building, repairing, and deploying computers.
  • Solid working knowledge of Windows across laptops, desktops, and tablets.
  • Experience supporting a range of mobile phone models and operating systems.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals such as routers, switches, and IP setup; server experience is considered an advantage.
  • Availability to work full time with consistent on-site attendance, plus willingness to travel as needed, approximately 5% to 10% annually.
  • Successful completion of the company application process, background verification, and drug screening before hire.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical thinking, decision-making, and customer service abilities.
