Role Purpose
The ESG Investment Management team plays a critical role in incorporating ESG considerations across Temasek’s investment processes and engagement with portfolio companies to enhance portfolio resilience and long-term value creation. This position supports the integration of ESG in new investment assessments and focused portfolio company engagements. The role reports directly to the Vice President of ESG Investment Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive ESG-related research and analysis to assist investment deal teams in evaluating new opportunities, focusing on risk mitigation and unlocking value.
- Engage in post-investment monitoring and collaborate on targeted engagements with portfolio companies, co-creating ESG action plans alongside deal teams.
- Create research-driven thematic reports covering pivotal ESG topics and emerging megatrends that influence investment decisions and portfolio management.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Temasek’s sustainability knowledge base by producing ESG tools, guidelines, and curated case studies; facilitate ESG learning sessions for the investment teams and portfolio firms.
- Prepare and present updates on ESG activities and emerging trends for internal and external stakeholders.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Sustainability, or related fields.
- A minimum of three years’ professional experience in ESG integration, sustainable investing, or sustainability implementation within private equity, investment management, or management consulting environments.
- In-depth understanding of ESG risks and opportunities, particularly in major sustainability segments such as climate change, social responsibility, and nature conservation, with relevance to long-term corporate strategy.
- Highly collaborative with an adaptable mindset to operate across multiple geographic regions and diverse teams in a dynamic setting; willing to accommodate work hours spanning different time zones.
- Proven team player exhibiting strong cultural awareness, ownership, and initiative, capable of managing various projects and responsibilities beyond the initial scope.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, paying close attention to clarity and detail when conveying complex concepts.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools is considered an advantage.
