Role Overview
The Research Assistant will deliver essential hands-on laboratory support within the Stem Cells and Regeneration Research Group at the Dubai Precision Medicine Center. This role primarily involves maintaining human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) cultures and supporting related in-vitro experimental systems. The incumbent will ensure experimental continuity and strict compliance with laboratory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and advanced procedures for human iPSC culture and maintenance following established laboratory protocols.
- Prepare and quality-check culture media, reagents, and consumables, including aliquoting.
- Implement technical aspects of cell-based and tissue engineering experiments under senior supervision.
- Perform molecular and cellular techniques such as qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and H&E staining.
- Operate confocal microscopy and support imaging workflows.
- Assist with sample preparation and flow cytometry (FACS) experiments.
- Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory logs, technical records, and sample documentation.
- Adhere strictly to SOPs, biosafety protocols, and ethical guidelines.
- Support quality assurance processes to enhance consistency and reproducibility of experiments.
- Manage sample handling, labeling, storage, and retrieval operations.
- Ensure laboratory equipment and workspaces are clean, operational, and properly maintained.
- Coordinate routine equipment checks, calibration activities, and inventory management.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory management and scientists to facilitate ongoing research projects.
- Offer technical support and guidance to junior colleagues and trainees.
- Engage in training sessions and skill development workshops to update laboratory techniques and methodologies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biomedical sciences, life sciences, biotechnology, or related fields.
- Proven, extensive hands-on experience in culturing human iPSC and performing associated laboratory techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and protocol adherence.
Preferred Experience
- Background in tissue engineering, 3D cultures, or other advanced in-vitro systems.
- Experience working within academic or research-intensive laboratory environments.
