About the Role and Organization
Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) operates under Dubai Health, the UAE’s premier integrated academic health system. Dubai Health administers 54 facilities including hospitals, health centers, and fitness centers, with MBRU playing a key role in medical education, research, and innovation.
The Scientist position is within the Stem Cells and Regeneration Research Group at the Dubai Precision Medicine Center (DPMC). This role involves leading scientific and technical projects focused on human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and tissue-engineered in vitro systems, demanding autonomous project management and high scientific standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and independently manage research projects leveraging human iPSCs, developing detailed experimental plans and timelines aligned with project goals.
- Conduct experimental troubleshooting, optimizing protocols, and making informed scientific decisions to ensure project progression.
- Perform and oversee advanced human iPSC culture and maintenance, integrating tissue engineering and advanced in-vitro techniques.
- Maintain rigorous experimental quality for reproducibility and technical accuracy.
- Produce well-documented, high-quality experimental data, ensure meticulous laboratory recordkeeping, and contribute to the documentation of protocols.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety, ethical standards, and quality assurance requirements.
- Provide intellectual input into study design, data interpretation, and reporting, supporting collaborative research initiatives within the group.
- Offer technical mentorship and guidance to junior researchers and assistants.
Qualifications and Experience
- PhD degree in stem cell biology, tissue engineering, biomedical sciences, or equivalent disciplines.
- Extensive and practical experience with human iPSC culture and related experimental procedures.
- Proven expertise in tissue engineering and advanced in-vitro culture systems.
- Demonstrated capability to independently design, execute, and manage research projects.
- Preferred experience includes interdisciplinary or translational research settings, mentoring laboratory staff, contributing to scientific publications and reports, and involvement in grant-funded projects.
