About the Organization
Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), part of Dubai Health, is integrated into the first academic health system in the UAE. Position Overview
The Laboratory Manager will be pivotal in establishing and managing the Stem Cells and Regeneration Research Group within the Dubai Precision Medicine Center (DPMC). This role involves designing the laboratory infrastructure from inception, ensuring high-quality standards, and managing daily laboratory operations along with its team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the setup of the laboratory including preparation of space, workflow design, and operational planning.
- Manage procurement of equipment, consumables, reagents, and kits for stem cell research by liaising with vendors and support teams.
- Ensure proper installation, validation, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Create, implement, and uphold SOPs, maintaining quality and reproducibility aligned with biosafety, ethics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee daily laboratory activities such as scheduling, task allocation, and workflow management.
- Supervise scientists, technicians, and research assistants; facilitate staff training and competency development.
- Keep accurate operational, inventory, and compliance documentation.
- Identify and suggest improvements for efficiency, quality, and sustainability of lab processes.
- Coordinate internal reporting and collaborate with research group leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in stem cell biology, biomedical sciences, life sciences, or a related discipline.
- Extensive practical experience in culturing human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and managing laboratory workflows.
- Proven track record in laboratory setup, operations, or senior technical roles.
- Excellent organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and ability to develop processes.
Preferred Experience
- Experience establishing or expanding research laboratories or core facilities.
- Expertise in tissue engineering, advanced in-vitro models, or regenerative medicine.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and governance of laboratory practices.
