Role Overview

The Regional Scientific Exchange Lead (RSEL) for MENA and Eurasia provides strategic medical leadership for the innovative portfolio across the region. This role drives scientific excellence, patient-centric initiatives, and collaborates cross-functionally to maximize patient benefits and support organizational goals. Acting as a critical regional partner for emerging markets, global, and affiliate stakeholders, the RSEL translates global medical strategies into actionable and regionally relevant plans suitable for diverse healthcare systems.

Reporting to the MENA Eurasia Regional Medical Lead, the role requires effective operation within a complex multinational matrix structure. The Regional Scientific Exchange Lead demonstrates influential leadership and fosters collaboration among various stakeholders. Additionally, the position includes coaching, mentoring, and offering scientific guidance to affiliate medical teams to enhance regional medical capabilities and promote excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and implementation of medical innovation strategies tailored to regional healthcare needs and aligned with global priorities.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key regional and international external experts, scientific societies, and healthcare stakeholders.
• Contribute medical expertise to product launch readiness, lifecycle management, and evidence generation efforts for innovative treatments.
• Monitor scientific trends, competitive landscape, and unmet patient needs to inform future medical strategies.
• Serve as a regional scientific authority and trusted advisor for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure the dissemination of high-quality, evidence-based medical communications and exchanges within the region.
• Manage drug safety issues effectively and cultivate strong partnerships with healthcare professionals to support medical collaborations.
• Generate actionable medical insights to guide regional and global strategies.
• Represent Medical Affairs at regional congresses, advisory boards, and scientific forums.
• Identify opportunities to improve patient care through innovative medical initiatives, including digital solutions and partnerships.
• Support and lead regional and local clinical plans, including feasibility assessments, site selection, coordination, and compliance.
• Direct regional evidence-generation programs, such as real-world evidence studies and investigator-sponsored research.
• Collaborate closely with Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Medical teams across levels to ensure unified strategic execution.
• Operate adeptly within a complex matrix organization, influencing decisions across multiple stakeholders and regions.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and medical excellence among affiliate teams.
• Ensure adherence to Viatris' policies, SOPs, applicable regulations, and ethical standards in all activities.
• Facilitate expanded access programs and named patient supply initiatives in compliance with ethical and legal requirements.
• Provide training programs to internal teams to enhance knowledge and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Medical Doctorate, PhD, Bachelor's degree in Medicine, or qualification as a Clinical Pharmacist.
• At least 10 years of medical affairs experience within a multinational pharmaceutical company.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in an additional local language is advantageous.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the region as required.
