Role Overview
The position of Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP The Verne and HMP Portland is integral to ensuring the smooth daily operation of busy correctional facilities. The role combines administrative tasks with active duties like security screening, overseeing deliveries, supervising visitors, monitoring communications, and managing CCTV. Physical components include lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles around the prison grounds. Driving is a core responsibility, requiring candidates to possess a full and valid UK driving license.
Candidate Profile
This role does not require formal qualifications but demands effective communication skills, calmness under pressure, sound judgment, and strong team collaboration. The position involves working various shifts, including weekends and nights. Interaction with prisoners is limited yet may occur depending on the environment.
