Role Overview

Join His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP The Verne and HMP Portland. This role plays a vital part in the smooth and secure day-to-day operations of a busy prison environment. Your duties will be diverse, ranging from gate security, conducting searches, overseeing deliveries, supervising visitor access, to monitoring phone calls and CCTV footage. The position combines desk-based tasks with physical responsibilities such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles across the prison ground.

Requirements and Skills

Applicants must hold a valid UK driver's license as driving forms a key component of the role. While formal qualifications are not mandatory, strong communication skills, composure during high-pressure situations, sound judgment, common sense, and a team-focused mindset are essential attributes for success in this role. The role involves working flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
