Role overview

This position is for a community pharmacy located in Powell River, British Columbia, where you will help deliver health, beauty, and convenience services with the customer at the centre of care. The pharmacist is responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations while on shift, offering consultation to customers and health professionals, providing professional pharmacy services, dispensing medications, and supporting the dispensary.

Key duties

  • Support customers at the pharmacy counter and ensure everyone approaching the pharmacy is acknowledged.
  • Work in line with all federal, provincial, legal, and regulatory obligations.
  • Protect customer privacy and follow all confidentiality and consent requirements.
  • Offer guidance on prescriptions as well as over-the-counter and behind-the-counter products.
  • Deliver professional services within the full scope of practice and your own competencies.
  • Remain clearly recognizable to the public as the pharmacist on duty.
  • Verify that prescriptions are dispensed accurately and appropriately.
  • Communicate with other health professionals within the circle of care to support patient care.
  • Maintain all required documentation according to legislation, professional standards, and company policy.
  • Manage dispensary access with attention to inventory security and patient confidentiality.
  • Review workflow queues daily and monitor will-call bins according to standard operating procedures.
  • Check stock regularly to identify expired items and oversee inventory levels and wholesaler orders.
  • Ensure controlled substance documentation, handling, and reporting obligations are met for Health Canada and other regulatory bodies.
  • Keep pickup and entry areas, counselling spaces, waiting areas, and workstations organized and professional.
  • Contribute to financial reporting where needed and act on internal store communications.
  • Complete incident reports for medication or privacy-related issues involving customers or staff.

Experience and qualifications

  • Strong independent judgement and the ability to make sound decisions when issues arise.
  • Ability to plan work, coordinate tasks, delegate when needed, and coach pharmacy team members.
  • Capability to help grow the business, lead by example, and support company programs.
  • High commitment to exceptional customer service and professional patient interactions.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills and a polished professional approach.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, including creating and carrying out action plans.
  • Good computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy software systems is an advantage.
  • Ability to follow health and safety procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Willingness to complete required training and optional continuing education sessions as needed.

Compensation
