Role overview
The People Business Partner, Kenya will serve as the main People Partner for Moniepoint Kenya. This is a practical, build-and-improve role suited to an experienced HR business partner or an emerging people leader who wants clear ownership and impact. You will build on existing people foundations and adapt them to the needs of a fast-paced, regulated fintech environment. Working closely with the Kenya CEO, you will help shape and execute people initiatives that improve performance, engagement, and organizational strength.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the Kenya CEO to turn people strategy into action and keep it aligned with business priorities and talent needs.
- Handle everyday employee lifecycle matters alongside People Operations and Employee Relations teams.
- Guide line managers on performance reviews, feedback conversations, and team engagement practices.
- Review people data such as attrition, engagement, and performance to spot local patterns and recommend practical solutions.
- Contribute to organizational design, workforce planning, and change management efforts.
- Partner with specialist teams in Talent Management, Total Rewards, Learning, and Employee Relations to roll out enterprise-wide people programs in Kenya.
- Promote an inclusive, accountable culture through consistent day-to-day interactions.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a closely related discipline.
- At least 10 years of HR experience, including a minimum of 5 years in an HRBP or advisory capacity.
- Demonstrated experience as a People Business Partner in a fast-moving organization.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment laws and regulatory requirements.
- Comfort working with data and turning trends into action.
- Active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
- CHRP-K certification.
Preferred experience
- Background in fintech, banking, or other digital-first environments.
- Experience supporting organization-wide HR transformation or scaling programs.
What success looks like
- You are seen by senior leaders as a trusted strategic partner and help guide long-term organizational and talent decisions.
- You design and deliver business-unit people strategies that clearly support outcomes such as market growth, product development, and operational efficiency.
- Your input helps shape company-wide HR policies and programs by bringing strong business context to COE teams.
- You successfully lead multiple COE-driven strategic initiatives end to end, with strong adoption and measurable improvement in people metrics.
- Your workforce planning and people-risk management help maintain a stable, engaged, and well-structured talent base that is prepared for future business needs.
About you
You combine business understanding with a strong people perspective. You can identify patterns in data, behavior, and structure, then use those insights to improve capability and performance at scale. You are confident influencing senior stakeholders, explaining complex people issues in commercial terms, and bringing clarity to ambiguous situations. You work smoothly with centers of excellence so that enterprise initiatives create real impact in the business. You are known for sound judgment, composure under pressure, and the ability to keep leaders accountable while building trust. Most importantly, you raise the standard of the people function by turning strategy into measurable results that support both culture and business growth.
