About Moniepoint
Moniepoint Inc. serves as Africa’s comprehensive financial platform, facilitating seamless payment, banking, credit, cross-border, and business tools for 20 million users monthly. It is Nigeria’s leading merchant acquirer powering the majority of point-of-sale transactions, processing over $250 billion in digital payments annually through its subsidiaries.
Role Overview
This leadership position involves spearheading innovation hubs at three Nigerian universities: Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Nigeria Nsukka, and Ahmadu Bello University. These hubs provide interdisciplinary training to students across faculties such as engineering, sciences, humanities, business, and design. The initiative aims to equip students with practical technical skills in areas like software engineering, AI, product management, data science, robotics, and design, linking them to industry professionals and career pathways within Moniepoint and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the operating framework for all three hubs, including cohort structures, curriculum sequencing, job market readiness criteria, and certification processes, creating an original program model.
- Manage institutional relations by engaging directly with Vice-Chancellors, deans, faculty leads, and student organizations to maintain sustained senior-level university partnerships.
- Design engagement strategies to ensure broad student participation from all faculties and maintain their involvement throughout the cohorts.
- Establish and grow a mentorship and industry network connecting internal and external experts who will support, assess, and recruit hub participants.
- Design facilitator recruitment, training, and standards enforcement to maintain consistent quality across all locations.
- Oversee infrastructure management, including setting up or utilizing existing campus spaces, vendor coordination, budgeting, staffing, and day-to-day hub operations.
- Set and monitor performance metrics such as graduate output, employment rates, program completion, cohort quality, and employer satisfaction to ensure accountability and success.
- Integrate the hubs into Moniepoint’s broader talent pipeline, aligning graduates’ pathways to internal programs and career advancement opportunities.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years professional experience including over 5 years in leadership roles overseeing programs, teams, and budgets.
- Proven track record of designing and leading large-scale technical training or workforce development initiatives, ideally spanning multiple locations with hands-on ownership from concept to execution.
- Experienced in managing high-level relationships with universities, government, and industry; familiarity with Nigerian university systems is a plus.
- Skilled in recruiting and managing technical educators while maintaining rigorous teaching standards to meet employer needs.
- Strong understanding of effective engineering education and the technical competencies required by employers in software, AI, product, and data science fields.
- Outcome-oriented mindset with the ability to deliver measurable program results over simply creating appealing initiatives.
- Background in edtech, developer education, university-industry alliances, or workforce development highly favored.
Success Milestones
- Within the first year, establish operating models for all hubs, commence cohorts with unified standards, hire facilitators, and graduate the first cohort with clear employment placements.
- By the second year, achieve renown for the hubs as Nigeria’s leading cross-disciplinary technical training centers with strong industry demand exceeding student intake.
- By year three, demonstrate cost-effective talent production feeding Moniepoint and the wider industry, with model documentation ready for potential scaling.
Benefits & Culture
- Lead a major technology talent development initiative impactful to Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.
- Engage in a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic workspace valuing every team member’s contribution.
- Enjoy continuous professional development opportunities and clear paths for career advancement.
- Receive a competitive salary complemented by personal and company-wide performance bonuses.
- Access comprehensive health insurance and pension schemes covered by the company.
Recruitment Process
- Initial discussion with recruitment personnel.
- Interview with Head of Corporate Affairs.
- Case study or written exercise focusing on hub operating model design.
- Further interview with Group COO.
- Final conversation with the CEO.
