Payroll Officer

They are seeking a Payroll Officer to support the timely delivery of their fortnightly payroll.

Employment details

• 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent
• Based in Melbourne CBD
• Flexible work arrangement: 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Payroll Manager and working as part of a large team, you will manage a broad range of payroll tasks, including:

• Running a fortnightly payroll for around 5,000 employees
• Handling employee exits, redundancy payments, and entity-related changes
• Managing escalated payroll enquiries quickly and accurately
• Maintaining and updating the payroll system
• Keeping payroll records accurate and current
• Preparing leave, sick leave, and overtime reports
• Producing reports to satisfy internal and statutory requirements
• Processing payroll variations, pay increases, and back pay calculations
• Preparing and paying superannuation, workers compensation, and other payroll deductions
• Supporting efficient administrative processes and systems
• Identifying ways to improve payroll processes, policies, and procedures, and sharing ideas with the wider payroll team

The ideal candidate will bring prior experience in a similar payroll role, along with strong professional and technical capabilities.
