Job Overview
This role involves providing comprehensive payroll administration and bookkeeping support for a well-established organization based in Johannesburg or Cape Town, working entirely remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer monthly payroll accurately and timely using Sage 300 Payroll software.
- Maintain and update detailed employee payroll records, including changes related to hiring, terminations, salary adjustments, leaves, deductions, and allowances.
- Ensure compliance with South African payroll legislations such as PAYE, UIF, and SDL, as well as company policies.
- Prepare payroll reports, perform reconciliations, and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
- Assist with statutory payroll submissions and maintain required records.
- Process and reconcile bank transactions, including supplier invoices and customer receipts.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, creditor and debtor reconciliations.
- Carry out monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare journals as needed.
- Reconcile petty cash and expense claims.
- Support month-end and year-end financial operations and assist with budgeting and cash flow reports where necessary.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years experience in payroll administration and bookkeeping.
- Hands-on experience with Sage 300 Payroll.
- Strong grounding in general bookkeeping practices including bank reconciliations, creditors, debtors, and ledger maintenance.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong numerical aptitude and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capacity to operate independently in a remote working setup.
- High integrity and confidentiality in managing sensitive information.
- Prior employment in legal, professional services, or corporate environments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of South African payroll laws and compliance requirements.
- Effective time management and multitasking skills to meet deadlines.
