Role Overview
This permanent part-time position involves 22 flexible hours weekly, Monday through Sunday, at the Respond Family Hub based in High Park, Drumcondra, Dublin 9. Reporting to the Homeless Service Manager, the hourly pay is €16.65.
Core Responsibilities
- Understand and empathize with issues affecting homeless individuals.
- Communicate effectively with clients facing addiction, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, and difficult behaviors.
- Uphold the organization’s ethos and collaborate within a team environment under challenging conditions.
- Deliver high-quality assistance that maintains and promotes dignity, development, and independence for service users.
- Create a welcoming, respectful, and non-judgemental atmosphere for clients and visitors.
- Welcome and greet visitors and service users professionally and courteously.
- Handle incoming phone calls—screening, answering, and forwarding as appropriate.
- Provide accurate information both in person and through phone or email.
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and presentable.
- Manage daily mail and deliveries by sorting and distributing accordingly.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, and events as required.
- Monitor visitor sign-in and maintain security protocols.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and managing office supplies.
- Support staff and client inquiries, performing clerical duties including photocopying and scanning.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained throughout the premises.
- Carry out light janitorial duties when necessary.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned, acknowledging the dynamic nature of duties.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a solid educational foundation (e.g., FETAC level or equivalent).
- Social Care qualifications are highly desirable.
- Demonstrate awareness of homelessness issues and the specific requirements of homeless families.
- Have a working knowledge of Child Protection policies.
- Exhibit a non-judgmental and respectful approach towards clients.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
- Show strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within teams.
- Be motivated, dependable, and adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Be willing to undergo Garda vetting continuously.
