Role overview

This position offers the chance to become part of the Pain, Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Theatres (PACCT) service team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

What the role involves

  • Co-ordinate PACCT clinic activity and ensure clinic administration is completed promptly and accurately.
  • Act as the first point of contact for PACCT clinic appointment-related queries.

Main duties

The post requires a current understanding of outpatient clinic processes, with responsibility for arranging, changing and cancelling appointments. The role includes responding to queries from GPs and patients, managing clinic enquiries, and scheduling appointments through the Myrddin Patient Administration System. It also involves using direct and partial booking methods, handling telephone calls, making outbound calls, taking general enquiries, booking in line with the Partial Booking Policy, and monitoring clinic activity.

Location

The base for this post is Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, NP20 2UB.

Experience required

  • Experience working in an NHS or healthcare setting is essential.
  • You must be able to enter and retrieve information accurately and efficiently on a computerised system while following complex local and national policies and guidance.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or environment is desirable.
  • Prior NHS experience is desirable.

Qualifications and knowledge

  • A good standard of GCSEs, NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Business/Administration, or equivalent proven experience, is required.
  • Strong keyboard and computer skills are essential.
  • A sound working knowledge of software programmes is required.
  • Good communication skills are desirable.
  • Experience of dealing with the public is desirable.
