Job description
Role summary
We are hiring BTEC Examiners for several subject areas, including Business, Engineering, ICT, Performing Arts, and Sport. We are also seeking BTEC Onscreen Examiners across different sectors who can verify work in Welsh.
What the role involves
An Onscreen Examiner reviews candidate responses using a pre-set mark scheme while following the Code of Practice and examination procedures. Marking is completed online through ePEN and can be carried out from home. The role requires strong subject expertise to apply the mark scheme correctly, and each examiner is given an agreed set of scripts to assess.
Key responsibilities
- Assess work accurately and consistently so that marking standards remain reliable.
- Send sample scripts to the Team Leader at the required checkpoints.
- Keep marking progress on schedule and meet all set milestones.
- Complete all administrative tasks in line with the stated requirements.
Experience and qualifications
Applicants need at least one academic year of teaching experience gained within the last 8 years, in the relevant subject and level, and after qualifying as a teacher. A degree or an equivalent qualification is required, and candidates must also be qualified teachers.
Core competencies
This position calls for the ability to perform under pressure, work to deadlines, and apply a strong command of the subject area when using the mark scheme.
