Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is for a non-consultant hospital doctor in psychiatry at SHO/Registrar level within Cluain Mhuire Adult Mental Health Services. The post sits in an adult mental health intellectual disability team and covers both general adult inpatient and community psychiatry.

Work setting

The position is based at Sandyford Industrial Estate, Co. Dublin, in HSE Dublin and South East. It is offered by St. John of God Community Services company limited by guarantee under a Section 38 advertisement. The opening is for a fixed-term, full-time role running until January 2027, with a possibility of extension.

What the role involves

The job is suited to doctors who want to strengthen their psychiatry experience in a strong clinical and academic environment. The successful doctor will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and be expected to take an active part in teaching and clinical audit. Cluain Mhuire functions as a teaching centre for RCSI students and NCHDs.

Essential criteria and background

Applicants must hold a medical degree and be registered with the Irish Medical Council. Prior psychiatry experience is preferred, and experience within the Irish health service is an advantage. Candidates also need to satisfy immigration, English language, and speciality-level educational entry requirements.

The employer is not the HSE, even though the position is being advertised on behalf of a publicly funded organisation, and its terms and conditions may differ from HSE terms.
