Job description

Opportunity Overview

We are excited to invite applications for a dedicated Musculoskeletal (MSK) Rotational Physiotherapist position within the Outpatient MSK Service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. This role is primarily for a Band 6 level therapist, though motivated candidates at Band 5-6 developmental levels will also be considered. The appointment offers a 12-month rotation, providing a unique chance to work across three key hospital sites: University Hospital Coventry, Hospital of St Cross, and City of Coventry Health Centre.

Role and Responsibilities

This position involves managing a diverse caseload comprising patients from both primary and secondary care settings, covering a broad range of diagnoses and complexity. The rotations are structured to enhance clinical capabilities, expose candidates to the full MSK outpatient pathway, and facilitate understanding of operational functions across different locations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing patient caseloads independently using evidence-based, client-centered approaches for assessment, planning, treatment, and evaluation within a defined clinical scope.
  • Supporting development and mentorship of junior staff through supervision, training, and conducting annual appraisals.
  • Contributing actively to planning, implementing, and reviewing clinical services and practice improvements.
  • Participating in initiatives to enhance the physiotherapy service across the Trust.
  • Leading information management efforts to guarantee accurate, timely, and high-quality data recording and reporting.

Team and Environment

Successful candidates will join a vibrant and multidisciplinary team composed of Physiotherapists, Technical Instructors, First Contact Practitioners, Advanced and Extended Scope Physiotherapists, and Consultant Physiotherapists. The service prides itself on its commitment to research, innovation, and delivering equitable, high-quality care across all sites.

Ongoing professional development is supported through regular in-service education, peer supervision, shadowing opportunities, and continuing professional development (CPD).

Additional Information

  • Candidates must provide an immunisation and vaccination report from their current UK occupational health provider or GP before appointment.
  • The Trust is committed to inclusivity, promoting equality, dignity, respect, and ensuring an environment supportive of all individuals' potential.
  • University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is a leading teaching hospital recognized for excellence in patient care, research, and innovation. It holds the prestigious Pathway to Excellence® designation.
