Molecular Biology Specialist

Role Summary

This position as a Molecular Biology Specialist is a remote contract opportunity providing $60 to $80 per hour. The specialist will design and conduct molecular biology experiments, analyze resulting data, and work collaboratively across teams to further research projects aimed at gene therapy and genetic engineering advances.

Key Duties

• Plan and carry out experiments such as PCR, cloning, and nucleic acid extraction (DNA/RNA).
• Interpret and analyze data using bioinformatics platforms and statistical approaches.
• Record and communicate experimental results to support research goals.
• Partner with scientists and engineers to embed molecular biology processes within larger initiatives.
• Refine lab protocols to enhance operational efficiency and reproducibility.

Required Expertise

• Skilled in PCR, gel electrophoresis, and purification of nucleic acids.
• Experience with molecular cloning methods including Gibson Assembly and restriction enzyme digestion.
• Familiarity with Next-Generation Sequencing data interpretation preferred.
• Proficient with bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, Primer-BLAST, and software for sequence alignment.
• Capability to diagnose experimental problems and recommend effective solutions.
