Location and Employment Details

This position is based in multiple locations including Vlorë, Korça, Shkodër, Lezhë, and Elbasan in Albania. The role is full-time and requires onsite presence.

Role Overview

The Nephrologist/Medical Center Director is the physician accountable for organizing and overseeing all medical activities in accordance with applicable laws, decisions, and regulations governing the Hemodialysis Center. The role involves aligning with the center's structure and operational procedures while supporting general practitioners with their daily duties. Additionally, the nephrologist coordinates medical services with the heads of services and specialist physicians at the Regional Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain daily presence at the dialysis center.
• Oversee all medical activities within the center.
• Manage and resolve vascular access-related complications.
• Handle and treat disturbances related to phosphate and calcium balance.
• Direct anemia management protocols and treatment plans.
• Supervise the nutritional management of hemodialysis patients.
• Manage blood pressure treatment regimens.
• Adjust medication doses according to Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR).
• Oversee dialysis-related complications and intervene appropriately.
• Assess patient condition and determine specific dialysis treatment requirements, including medication recommendations following established protocols.
• Monitor the activities of general practitioners and nursing staff continuously.
• Provide patient consultations as requested or deemed necessary.
• Conduct monthly check-ups for all patients and ensure the nephrology consultation is appropriately recorded in electronic health records.
• Ensure compliance with care level and patient safety protocols and regulations.
• Determine and justify the duration and frequency of hemodialysis treatments for each patient, including exceptions for sessions fewer or more than three times a week or sessions longer than four hours.
• Maintain ongoing communication between the dialysis center and managerial staff.
• Ensure adherence to the hemodialysis protocol approved by the Ministry of Health Order No. 258, dated 17.06.2014.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Must possess specialization in Nephrology.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in the field.

Language and IT Skills

• Good communication skills in English are required.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills.
