About the Medical Strategy Craft

The medical strategy function combines scientific discipline with clinical understanding to strengthen brand strategy. This team turns complicated evidence into clear, usable stories, helps teams interpret therapeutic areas, and protects scientific accuracy across deliverables. Medical strategists work closely with creative, account, and strategy partners to shape positioning, messaging, and evidence-based decisions.

Role Overview

The Medical Strategist is responsible for guiding medical and marketing strategy for assigned brands as well as new business opportunities. This position offers scientific leadership, competitive perspective, and content direction to cross-functional teams. The right candidate will have strong analytical ability, deep knowledge of therapeutic areas, and the skill to present complex science in a clear and persuasive way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer scientific guidance for assigned brands and ensure both accuracy and strategic consistency in content.
  • Train internal teams on clinical evidence, disease fundamentals, and the competitive environment.
  • Review and shape promotional and strategic materials from a medical standpoint.
  • Contribute to new business work by developing scientific messaging, medical content, and competitive assessments.
  • Develop trusted client partnerships and act as a reliable advisor on medical and scientific topics.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in science, such as an MSc, or an equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in medical strategy, medical communications, pharma, biotech, or a closely related area.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to combine clinical and competitive information into useful insights.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the confidence to inform and influence varied audiences.
  • Comfort leading conversations, facilitating group discussions, and collaborating across departments.
  • Good grasp of marketing concepts and brand strategy.

Preferred Background

  • Advanced credentials such as a PhD, MD, or PharmD.
  • Experience creating medical content for promotional or strategic programs.
  • Prior involvement in new business proposals or scientific storytelling.
  • Ability to represent scientific work clearly and build dependable client relationships.
  • Strong planning and organization skills, with the ability to manage several projects at once.

Additional Information

This is an open role for an existing vacancy.

The base compensation for this position is CAD 150,000 to CAD 180,000 annually. The actual offer will depend on factors such as work location, education, prior experience, and the candidate’s specific skill set.
