About the Role
Come join Aveo and contribute to creating welcoming retirement communities for senior Australians. As a Maintenance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and upkeep of residents' homes and communal areas. This role encompasses handling reactive and scheduled maintenance tasks, including repairs and general handyman duties, while fostering positive connections with residents.
Responsibilities
- Conducting general repair and handyman duties such as painting, hanging pictures, and replacing light fixtures
- Performing minor plumbing repairs, including replacing taps and washers
- Assisting with the maintenance of outdoor features like lighting and irrigation systems
- Executing preventative maintenance work across the community per schedule
- Maintaining and organizing community tools and equipment to ensure safety and readiness
- Documenting maintenance activities, notes, and job progress
- Serving as a friendly and approachable point of contact for residents, working collaboratively with the team
- Note: This position does not include gardening responsibilities
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in general maintenance or trade-related roles performing hands-on handyman tasks
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to independently evaluate issues and implement solutions
- Familiarity with maintenance cycles and understanding of equipment and asset longevity in community settings
- Clear and confident communication skills, capable of explaining maintenance work in a resident-friendly manner
- Positive attitude, approachability, and pride in delivering quality work
- Possession of a valid driver's license (mandatory)
- Completion of at least two COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage starting at $30.34 plus superannuation and applicable award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime, and allowances
