Job description
Role Overview
The Lifeguard is tasked with guaranteeing the safety of guests within designated aquatic zones at Half Moon Cay. This position involves promoting and enforcing safety guidelines, closely observing swimmers to prevent hazards, and responding rapidly in emergencies. Lifeguards act decisively to evaluate risks and execute rescues and medical aid when necessary, collaborating under a supervisor’s guidance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain vigilant surveillance of all guests in swimming areas to ensure safety compliance.
- Implement and uphold all aquatic safety rules and company protocols.
- Alert guests to unsafe behaviors and enforce adherence to safety standards.
- Conduct rescues for patrons in peril or distress promptly and effectively.
- Provide emergency medical assistance including First Aid, CPR, and artificial respiration as situations require.
- Participate in ongoing certification training to maintain competence in rescue and emergency techniques.
- Monitor and assess the safety and functionality of aquatic equipment, facilities, and water conditions regularly.
- Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and setup or teardown of lifeguard gear and work environment daily.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and service standards.
- Contribute to daily opening and closing procedures of swimming zones and carry out additional duties as directed by supervisors.

- Flexibility to work outdoors, adapt to shift assignments, and operate in diverse environmental conditions.
Health, Environment, Safety and Security (HESS) Obligations
- Comply with all internal policies related to health, safety, environment, and security.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all safety procedures consistently.
- Report unsafe situations, incidents, or environmental issues promptly to supervisors.
- Engage actively in HESS training programs and uphold a secure and sustainable workplace culture.
- Cooperate with efforts to meet regulatory compliance and improve safety and environmental standards continuously.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Completed high school diploma or GED with customer service experience supporting guest interactions.
- Successfully pass a practical swimming skills assessment before employment.
- Competency in swimming across various water conditions and recognizing safety risks.
- Comprehensive understanding of safety protocols and emergency medical intervention in aquatic settings.
- Physical ability to stand outdoors for lengthy periods and lift items up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of full participation in lifesaving drills, requiring complete mobility and sensory abilities for effective communication and action.
- Availability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and varying shifts.
