Job Overview

The Legal Officer will bring comprehensive expertise in Indian real estate and corporate laws to support the company’s legal framework in Kolkata. This role demands strong drafting ability, negotiation skills, and innovative problem-solving tailored to NBFC environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain thorough understanding of Indian Contract Act, Transfer of Property Act, Real Estate Regulatory Act, Stamp Acts, Specific Relief Act, Companies Act, RBI regulations, SARFAESI Act, and other relevant statutes.
• Draft legal reports with precision and negotiate effectively to safeguard company interests.
• Deliver practical and creative legal solutions aligned with business needs.
• Communicate clearly and work closely with business units and legal teams.
• Provide legal support to designated branches and assist business teams on transaction structuring and risk mitigation.
• Develop and regularly update standard agreements, templates, and legal protocols.
• Liaise with external law firms for documentation and obtaining legal opinions.
• Scrutinize collateral documentation and title search reports to ensure legal compliance.
• Support senior legal officers in managing complex deals, factoring in state-specific legal nuances.
• Visit assigned branches and government offices as required; coordinate meetings with local legal vendors.

Performance Goals

• Thoroughly evaluate deals to identify legal, commercial, risk, and compliance concerns.
• Recommend legal safeguards and deal structuring strategies to secure company rights.
• Meet volume expectations and turnaround times without compromising quality.

Additional Information

The Legal Officer shall conduct branch visits, interface with government authorities as necessary, and hold discussions with external legal service providers to ensure smooth operations.
