Role Overview

EDC is hiring a team-oriented and solution-driven corporate and commercial lawyer to join its Legal Services team, which comprises around 30 attorneys. This role is based in the Singapore branch office and provides legal support across financing transactions, governance, regulatory compliance, procurement, and human resources for the branch office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in every stage of financing transactions, including structuring, negotiation, and documentation.
  • Identify and address legal and corporate risk issues within file matters.
  • Draft various legal documents.
  • Support asset management activities such as waivers, consents, and amendments related to financing products.
  • Advise on legal matters pertaining to EDC’s contracts, governance, regulatory compliance in Singapore, procurement, human resources, and KYC & compliance.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and review their documents and legal advice.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant statutes and legislative changes in Singapore, ensuring adherence by the branch office.
  • Collaborate actively with corporate, legal, and business teams to provide legal support.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Law.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Singapore; qualification in England & Wales also acceptable.
  • At least 10 years of pertinent legal experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including legal drafting proficiency.
  • Ability to multitask and efficiently manage a high volume of transactions and tasks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles and best practices in legal services.

Additional Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Singapore at the time of application, preferably Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.
  • Selection is contingent on meeting required government security clearances.

Compensation and Location

  • Annual salary for Legal Services Level 20 ranges from SGD 182,835 to SGD 243,780, depending on qualifications and experience, with an additional performance-based incentive.
  • Position is based at the Singapore branch office located in Marina Bay Financial Centre.
