Work Environment and Location

Compensation

The salary falls under Underwriter 19 pay scale, ranging from $112,006 to $171,742 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience, complemented by a performance-based incentive.

Role Overview

The Global Accounts Director (GAD) will build trusted partnerships with clients, understanding their evolving international business needs and overseeing the entire client relationship. The GAD will lead internal virtual account teams and craft customized solutions using EDC’s financial products. Additionally, they will devise and execute sector strategies to promote trade diversification and economic transformation within corporate client portfolios, collaborating internally and with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner, engaging senior executives to foster long-term growth and value creation.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities by building networks with senior contacts and representing EDC within industry groups.
  • Integrate transaction structure knowledge and risk analysis with client challenges and financial strategies to guide growth.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to deploy sector strategies and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Research emerging market trends, ecosystem developments, risks, and opportunities within assigned sectors.
  • Provide insightful advice supporting strategic decision-making and risk management in complex contexts.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of business development expertise with client relationship management focus on international financing, ideally from corporate, trade, or investment banking backgrounds.
  • In-depth understanding of strategic account management practices.
  • Knowledge of corporate capital raising instruments and market determinants.
  • Proven ability to comprehend client strategies, offer tailored solutions, and collaborate across teams.
  • Experience in capital markets and credible engagement with sophisticated corporate clients.
  • An established professional network within corporate and financial circles.

Preferred Credentials

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
  • Familiarity with international business and trade practices.
  • Advanced qualifications such as MBA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Recent experience in sectors like Energy & Energy Transition, Critical Minerals, Trade Enabling Infrastructure, Advanced Manufacturing, or Digital Industries.
