Overview
Join Export Development Canada (EDC) to support Canadian businesses succeed worldwide by providing financial expertise and tools to explore international markets and mitigate risks. This permanent opportunity as a Global Accounts Director (GAD) within Corporate Lending involves developing trust-based partnerships and delivering tailored solutions that meet clients' evolving global business needs.
Role Summary
The GAD is responsible for managing and expanding client relationships by understanding their strategies and challenges, overseeing sector portfolios, and implementing detailed sector strategies to support trade diversification and economic transformation. This role involves collaboration with internal virtual account teams and external stakeholders and reporting to the Director of Corporate Lending Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior executives of client organizations, fostering long-term partnerships and continuous value creation.
- Prospect new business opportunities and build networks within industry and sector groups to advance EDC's reach.
- Integrate transaction expertise with client insights to advise on strategies, financial frameworks, and capital market opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deploy sector strategies and craft innovative financial solutions.
- Develop and execute comprehensive sector strategies focused on trade diversification and sector economic evolution.
- Gather and analyze sector intelligence to anticipate emerging risks, business ecosystems, opportunities, and trends.
- Provide strategic insight to influence EDC’s decision-making and risk management in complex scenarios.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in business development and client relationship management, particularly in international financing within corporate, trade, or investment banking.
- Strong mastery of strategic account management best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate capital market instruments and associated market dynamics.
- Proven ability to comprehend client strategies and influence solution development across multidisciplinary teams.
- Capital markets experience, capable of engaging confidently with large corporate clients.
- Established professional network in corporate and financial sectors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in both English and French.
- Familiarity with international business and trade practices.
- Advanced credentials such as MBA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Expertise or recent experience in priority sectors like Energy & Energy Transition, Critical Minerals, Trade Enabling Infrastructure, Advanced Manufacturing, or Digital Industries.
Work Arrangement
- This position requires hybrid work with at least three days per week onsite. Work locations include Ottawa headquarters and Community Hubs in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, or Vancouver.
- Relocation assistance may be provided for qualifying candidates.

- Salary range typically between 112006 and 171742 CAD annually, depending on qualifications and experience, accompanied by performance incentives.
