About the role

Meridian is seeking a Land and Farming Relationship Manager to be based in Wellington or Christchurch. In this position, you will sit at the centre of Meridian’s partnerships with landowners and lessees across New Zealand, helping shape how the business works alongside communities connected to its generation assets.

You will lead strategic engagement across the Generation portfolio, support programmes such as decarbonisation initiatives, and work with internal stakeholders to deliver lease obligations, sustainability outcomes, and community commitments. The role requires someone who can handle complex land and lease issues while keeping relationships respectful, constructive, and productive.

You will also support site-based teams, help influence wider organisational practices, and bring together commercial, environmental, and social priorities in a balanced way.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain strong, long-term relationships with landowners, lessees, and other external stakeholders across Meridian’s Generation asset portfolio.
• Serve as the main contact for land and lease-related matters.
• Lead Meridian’s national approach to landowner, lessee, and land-related iwi engagement across Generation assets.
• Coordinate and support decarbonisation initiatives in collaboration with internal teams, ensuring these activities align with corporate targets and Meridian’s wider sustainability strategy.
