About the Role
Join Meridian Energy as a Field Asset Management Technician, where you will play a vital role maintaining New Zealand’s essential electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This hybrid position involves approximately 50% hands-on fieldwork and 50% asset management duties based in Christchurch, ensuring the reliability of EV chargers across the South Island.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain EV charging stations throughout the South Island.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to enhance system availability and minimize downtime.
- Regular travel commitments, including overnight and multi-day service trips lasting 3 to 4 days.
- Monitor charger functionality remotely through CPMS, perform remote diagnostics, and coordinate technician deployment as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities and contribute to refining maintenance protocols.
- Provide on-call after-hours support on a roster basis and act as a lead resource for complex technical issues.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and compliance standards to ensure a safe working environment.
Candidate Profile
- Must be a registered electrician in New Zealand; Electrical Inspector certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in electrical fault-finding and diagnostics with practical experience.
- Background in managing distributed assets or infrastructure, ideally with EV charging systems.
- Experience using CPMS or similar platforms to monitor and manage assets.
- Ability to analyze performance data to identify operational trends and potential problems.
- Self-reliant and persistent when solving problems, capable of working independently.
- Effective communicator able to translate technical information for diverse audiences.
- Flexible and willing to travel regularly and work outside normal hours as required.
