Role Overview
Join the New Zealand Customs Service in Wellington as a Senior Advisor or Advisor within the Correspondence, Reviews and Ministerial Servicing team. This dynamic position offers the chance to engage in a variety of tasks daily, supporting Customs' mission to safeguard New Zealand’s borders while contributing to the community's and economy’s wellbeing.

Responsibilities and Impact
- Provide thorough analysis and respond to Ministerial correspondence, Parliamentary questions, and Official Information and Privacy Act requests.
- Serve as the liaison between Customs and the Minister's Office, facilitating effective communication and timely information sharing.
- Support the compilation of the Minister’s Weekly Report and other key documentation.
- Engage with senior management and various business units to enhance stakeholder relationships and inform decision-making.
- Represent management confidently when liaising with important stakeholders, contributing positively to team dynamics in a high-pressure environment.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Political awareness and comfort engaging with diverse staff and senior managers are essential.
- Experience in Ministerial Services or familiarity with parliamentary procedures and government operations is highly desirable.
- An understanding of legislative interpretation and the ability to handle complex, broad inquiries effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication, time management, prioritization abilities, and relationship management skills are critical.
- A proactive, positive approach with the capability to take initiative and serve as a role model within the team.
- Must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident meeting specific residency and security clearance requirements, including a clear police record and passing a drug test.
