Role Purpose
The Standards Verifier plays a vital role in safeguarding the quality and uniformity of vocational qualifications by ensuring compliance with national assessment and internal verification standards. The role involves specialized guidance to educational centers, conducting sampling and verification audits, offering clear and constructive feedback, and contributing to enhanced quality assurance processes. Regular training and collaboration support the continued excellence of assessment integrity upheld by Pearson.
Core Responsibilities and Expectations
- Maintain professionalism and represent Pearson with integrity at all times.
- Comply fully with all applicable terms, conditions, policies, and confidentiality obligations.
- Uphold Pearson’s standards on data privacy and information security.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within all professional interactions.
- Report all suspected instances of malpractice, maladministration, or safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Meet deadlines and deliver work reflecting high personal standards.
- Protect the confidentiality of centers and learners at all times.
- Provision and maintenance of personal IT equipment capable of running required software securely, including use of a personal secure email account (non-work email).
- Maintain timely and effective communication with Pearson staff and teams.
Specific Duties
- Stay current with relevant qualification specifications and applicable National Occupational Standards.
- Offer expert advice, guidance, and support aligned with verification standards for the subject area.
- Attend and complete all mandated training and annual standardisation processes on schedule.
- Conduct center visits when necessary for qualifications requiring on-site verification, subject to assessment team direction and approval.
- Adhere stringently to Pearson’s quality assurance workflows and sampling methodologies.
- Review learner assessments and internal verification documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure assessment judgments are valid and consistent across centers and aligned with national standards.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback and assist centers in improving their compliance and processes.
- Produce detailed sampling reports following each center assessment.
- Communicate non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions decisively.
- Support centers in resolving issues and making necessary ongoing improvements.
- Recommend exemplary learner work or assessment materials for training and standardization use.
- Maintain continuous communication with Pearson supervisors and collaborate with internal teams.
- Demonstrate proactive engagement in maintaining Pearson’s high standards in quality assurance.
Experience and Qualifications
Applicants should possess a solid foundation in quality assurance and assessment protocols. This includes a minimum of two full academic years teaching experience in the relevant subject or sector within the last eight years and/or significant expertise with Pearson’s assessment, quality control, and national standards during the last five years. Experience verifying regulated qualifications, strong communication abilities, and proven experience delivering and coordinating training sessions including standardization events are essential. In-depth knowledge of the sector’s qualification specifications is also required, with prior leadership or support roles in quality assurance activities considered advantageous.
