Role Overview
This position is open to candidates residing within the UK interested in International BTEC verification roles. Positions offer either remote or on-site contracts. International candidates are advised to apply through their local vacancies.
The Standards Verifier is crucial in preserving the credibility and uniformity of vocational qualifications. This role involves ensuring that assessment and internal verification meet national benchmarks by offering expert guidance to centres, performing sampling and verification, providing clear constructive feedback, and supporting the continual enhancement of quality assurance procedures. Engagement in regular training, cooperation with internal teams, and centre interaction are also essential to uphold Pearson’s commitment to dependable, high-quality evaluation.
Core Responsibilities and Conduct
- Ensure compliance with all terms, conditions, and policy requirements.
- Maintain professional conduct that safeguards Pearson’s reputation.
- Uphold data privacy and information security as per Pearson guidelines.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion respectfully and professionally.
- Report any suspected malpractice, maladministration, or safeguarding concerns.
- Meet deadlines and perform tasks to the highest standard possible.
- Preserve confidentiality of candidate and centre information.
- Provide own IT equipment compliant with Pearson’s software and security requirements, including a personal, secure email address (not a work email).
- Communicate and collaborate promptly with Pearson staff and teams.
Specialised Duties
- Stay informed about current qualification specifications and, if applicable, National Occupational Standards.
- Offer expert, tailored advice aligned with verification standards.
- Complete all mandatory training and annual standardisation activities on schedule.
- Perform centre visits as necessary, adhering to guidance and approvals.
- Follow Pearson’s quality control protocols and sampling methodologies for assigned qualifications.
- Review learner submissions and verification records for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure assessment decisions are valid, consistent, and align with national criteria.
- Provide detailed, constructive feedback during sampling processes.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on sampling activities at each visited centre.
- Clearly communicate non-compliance issues and required remedial actions.
- Support centres in resolving issues and maintaining ongoing compliance standards.
- Identify and suggest learner work or assessment materials suitable for future training and standardisation use.
- Maintain effective, ongoing communication with Pearson supervisors and coordinate with internal teams.
- Demonstrate a proactive mindset towards quality assurance and dedication to maintaining high standards consistently.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of two full academic years teaching experience in the subject area or sector within the past eight years, or extensive recent knowledge of Pearson assessments and quality procedures within the last five years.
- Demonstrable expertise in quality assurance and assessment best practices.
- Prior experience verifying regulated qualifications.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to organize and deliver training, including standardisation activities.
- Detailed understanding of qualifications and specifications in the relevant specialist sector.
- Evidence of leadership or supportive roles in essential quality assurance tasks.
