International Standards Verifier - International BTEC Agriculture (UK Based)

Overview

This position is open exclusively to applicants residing within the UK interested in conducting verification for International BTEC qualifications in Agriculture. The role offers options for remote or occasional in-person assignments. Candidates outside the UK should pursue applicable openings in their regions.

Role Purpose

The Standards Verifier is crucial to sustaining the quality and uniformity of vocational qualifications by verifying that assessment methods and internal evaluations adhere to national criteria. Responsibilities include delivering expert subject-specific assistance to centers, performing sampling and verification tasks, providing constructive evaluations, and supporting ongoing quality assurance enhancements. The role entails collaboration with internal teams, periodic training, and thorough engagement with educational centers to maintain Pearson’s commitment to dependable and superior assessment standards.

• Ensure your own IT setup meets the technical requirements including software, security, antivirus protection, reliable internet, and a secured personal email account (non-work email).
• Engage in timely and effective communication with Pearson teams and supervisors.

Specialized Role Duties

• Stay informed and current with qualification specifications and relevant National Occupational Standards.
• Provide tailored expert advice and support aligned with verification criteria in agriculture.
• Complete all mandatory training sessions and annual standardisation exercises within set timelines.
• Undertake center visits for qualifications requiring on-site verification, subject to assessment team direction and approval.
• Follow Pearson’s quality assurance and sampling procedures strictly across assigned qualifications.
• Assess learner submissions and internal verification documentation to verify compliance and accuracy.
• Ensure assessment decisions are consistent, valid, and conform with national standards.
• Offer clear, constructive feedback and assistance to centers throughout the sampling process.
• Compile detailed and actionable sampling reports for each visited center.
• Identify when standards are unmet and specify required corrective actions.
• Support centers with improvement plans to maintain compliance.
• Suggest exemplary learner work or assessment materials for use in training and standardisation activities.
• Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with supervisors and internal departments.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in quality assurance and assessment within vocational education.
• Minimum of two full academic years teaching experience in the relevant sector or subject within the past eight years, and/or extensive knowledge of Pearson assessment practices, quality processes, and national standards over the past five years.
• Proven experience in verification of regulated qualifications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience delivering and coordinating training sessions, including standardisation activities.
• Strong expertise with specifications relevant to agriculture and internal quality processes.
• Background in leadership or support roles for quality assurance activities.
