Role Overview

This position involves safeguarding the consistency and credibility of vocational qualifications by verifying assessment and internal quality assurance practices against national benchmarks. The Standards Verifier offers specialized subject-related support to educational centers through sampling and audits, delivering detailed feedback, and helping refine Pearson’s quality assurance processes. Continuous training and teamwork play key roles in maintaining Pearson's standards for dependable evaluation.

Core Responsibilities

• Uphold compliance with all contractual terms, policies, and data protection standards at all times.
• Maintain professional conduct to protect Pearson’s reputation and represent the company ethically.
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion professionally and respectfully.
• Report any suspected malpractice or safeguarding concerns promptly.
• Meet deadlines and perform all tasks to the highest possible standard.
• Protect the confidentiality of learner and center data.
• Use personal IT equipment that meets software, security, and connectivity requirements, including maintaining a secure personal email account.
• Communicate and collaborate timely with Pearson teams.

Specific Duties

• Stay current with qualification specifications and applicable National Occupational Standards.
• Offer expert subject-specific advice aligned with verification standards.
• Complete all mandatory training and standardisation exercises annually within set deadlines.
• When required, conduct visits to centres to carry out onsite verification activities.
• Follow Pearson's quality assurance and sampling procedures for assigned qualifications.
• Review learner submissions and internal checks to ensure conformity and reliability of assessments.
• Give constructive feedback to centres to support quality improvements.
• Prepare clear and practical reports after sampling activities.
• Identify non-compliance issues and recommend corrective steps effectively.
• Support centres in implementing improvements and sustaining compliance.
• Suggest suitable learner work or assessment content for training and standardisation use.
• Maintain regular communication with supervisors and internal teams to ensure alignment.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum two full academic years’ teaching experience in the relevant field within the past 8 years and/or significant expertise in Pearson's assessment and quality assurance processes in the past 5 years.
• Experience verifying regulated qualifications and a strong understanding of quality assurance standards.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and coordinate training and standardisation work.
• Comprehensive knowledge of qualification specifications related to the subject domain.
• Previous leadership roles or involvement in key quality assurance activities are desirable.
• Qualification requirements vary depending on the specific subject area; candidates are advised to check qualifications needed before applying.
