About the Role
Currie & Brown's disputes team serves as a vital segment of their specialist services, currently earmarked for strategic growth. While based in London, this position may be located in any of the company's UK offices. The appointed professional will provide comprehensive support in dispute prevention, handling, and resolution, with a focus on quantum opinions and contractual consulting, particularly related to project delay and disruption claims. This role involves close collaboration with the unit director, various business segments, and nurturing an individual client portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze contractual claims regarding disputed variations, loss and expense, and other finance-related claims.
- Prepare assessments and expert opinions concerning claims.
- Contribute to the creation of CPR-compliant expert reports.
- Assist in delivering supplementary services such as delay analysis aligned with project needs.
- Coordinate with client legal teams effectively.
- Oversee and aid assistant experts, facilitating their professional growth.
- Advise project teams on strategies to avoid disputes during ongoing projects.
- Manage personal commissions from initial instruction through to testimony in legal proceedings.
- Handle financial aspects and profit & loss responsibilities associated with commissions.
- Engage in business development activities including meetings with legal and client stakeholders, delivering training sessions, participating in seminars, and contributing articles for trade publications.
- Compile best practice reviews and analytical reports.
- Share knowledge across projects to foster innovation and strengthen the company's reputation as a leading service provider.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification with MRICS or MCIArb accreditation.
- Proven experience in assessing and quantifying contractual claims.
- Comprehensive understanding of diverse alternative dispute resolution techniques.
- Ability to draft clear and concise opinions on disputed matters, resulting in CPR 35 compliant reports.
