Job description

About Eli Lilly and Company

At Eli Lilly, our mission is driven by urgent dedication to patients worldwide. With headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, our global workforce of over 50,000 professionals confronts complex challenges to discover life-changing medicines, enhance health knowledge and management, and support communities. Every decision and detail is purposeful as we strive to improve lives across the globe.

Location and Organizational Context

This role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the Intercontinental Hub (ICH), a segment of Lilly’s International Business Unit (IBU) focusing on a cluster of emerging and high-potential markets spanning Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Gulf countries, KSA, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Korea, and alliance countries. These regions encompass about 100 million people and require specialized technical expertise and agility in complex environments to expand patient access and drive revenue.

Role Summary

The Intercontinental Hub Evidence Generation Lead specializing in Real-World Evidence (RWE) is responsible for leading the integrated evidence generation across the ICH region. This includes oversight of RWE, health outcomes research, investigator-initiated research (IIR), and medical evidence governance. The role operates within Lilly’s VEO framework, fostering seamless integration of real-world data and health outcomes throughout the drug development lifecycle—from early clinical stages to commercialization. Collaborating with Country Medical Directors, Medical Heads, and IBU VEO, the Lead defines strategic evidence priorities and reports to the AVP of ICH Strategic Capabilities and Transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Unify Commercial and Medical Omnichannel Engagement (OCE) into a cohesive customer journey across ICH affiliates to create a consistent healthcare professional experience integrating brand, scientific, medical, and outcomes touchpoints.
  • Coordinate alignment between Country Medical Directors, Commercial leadership, and global OCE governance bodies to translate strategy into actionable and coordinated cross-functional plans.
  • Accelerate deployment of the Deep Digital House model within Medical Affairs across ICH markets, tailoring global digital frameworks to fit affiliate-specific maturity and archetypes.
  • Work alongside affiliate medical teams and Country Medical Directors to embed digital-first engagement methodologies within Medical Affairs, field operations, and scientific communications.
  • Construct a Digital Readiness Acceleration Framework to enable non-priority ICH affiliates to independently develop OCE capabilities beyond centrally funded initiatives, including capability assessments, coaching support, and knowledge transfer programs.
  • Establish unified digital and OCE performance standards across ICH, including consistent KPI definitions, hub-wide benchmarking, and comprehensive views of HCP engagement integrating commercial and medical data.
  • Regularly assess and report engagement funnel performance for medical and commercial channels to ICH and IBU leadership and ensure governance alignment within the integrated OCE framework.

Success Indicators

  • Adoption of a singular, integrated OCE model without separation between commercial and medical functions across ICH affiliates.
  • Successful expansion of the Deep Digital House blueprint into Medical Affairs in targeted ICH regions per cycle.
  • Deployment and operationalization of the Digital Readiness Acceleration Framework for non-priority ICH markets.
  • Implementation of unified KPIs and the establishment of a hub-level benchmarking dashboard used consistently for performance tracking.
  • Operational support that accelerates OCE maturity in lower maturity affiliates, reducing reliance on centrally funded programs.

Leadership Qualities

  • Demonstrates integrity and courage by maintaining regulatory and scientific standards for digital content across commercial and medical fields.
  • Applies systems thinking to design integrated OCE models sensitive to compliance and market maturity challenges across diverse affiliates.
  • Exhibits strong influence and communication skills, converting complex digital strategies into clear, practical actions across global and affiliate teams.
  • Fosters inclusive leadership, ensuring digital capability development includes non-priority markets and adapts to varied market archetypes.
  • Maintains operational excellence with focus on execution speed, clarity of KPIs, channel performance, and compliance adherence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific education such as MSc, PhD, MD, PharmD or equivalent with substantial experience in outcomes strategy development and research implementation.
  • At least 10 years of commercial business experience in pharmaceutical sales, marketing, or medical roles.
  • Proven expertise in designing and applying cutting-edge methods in RWE, observational or epidemiologic studies, with skills spanning RWE, patient outcomes, disease burden analysis, epidemiology, statistics, and healthcare policy.
  • Exceptional scientific communication abilities coupled with proven cross-functional collaboration across Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Commercial, and Market Access functions; experience in multi-country medical affairs is essential.
  • Proficiency in English at business communication level; additional languages such as Spanish or relevant regional languages are advantageous.

Additional Information

This role involves travel requirements and operates with no direct reports but works through scientific influence and coordination across affiliates. Lilly is committed to providing equal opportunities and accommodations for individuals with disabilities in the hiring process. The company upholds a policy of non-discrimination across all legally protected statuses.
