Job description
Overview
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role supports the Medical Affairs strategy by delivering balanced, accurate, and up-to-date scientific and clinical information about Cosette Pharmaceuticals' oncology products, relevant disease conditions, treatment options, clinical evidence, and unmet medical needs. This position collects and shares actionable insights from the field, helps facilitate scientific engagement, research efforts, and educational activities, and works collaboratively across departments while preserving the independence of Medical Affairs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as the scientific expert in the field for the oncology portfolio, executing Medical Affairs strategy and regional medical plans.
- Create and implement a territory engagement plan targeting key oncology opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, academic institutions, community oncology practices, and other stakeholders in the designated geography.
- Engage in balanced, non-promotional, and scientifically sound medical dialogues concerning disease states, treatment landscapes, clinical evidence, product data, treatment guidelines, and unmet medical needs.
- Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries following Cosette Medical Affairs policies, coordinating follow-ups with Medical Information or other internal teams as needed.
- Gather, document, and relay valuable scientific insights about treatment practices, evidence gaps, competitive environment, emerging trends, and stakeholder needs.
- Support clinical research initiatives, including investigator-initiated trials, Cosette-sponsored study site identification and assistance, and coordination with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs on investigator/advisory interactions.
- Assist with medical congresses, advisory boards, scientific communication, medical education, speaker training, and review scientific content as appropriate.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including Medical Affairs, Medical Information, Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance while maintaining the non-promotional nature of Medical Affairs.
- Stay thoroughly knowledgeable about assigned disease areas, Cosette products, market conditions, clinical trial data, treatment guidelines, and regulatory/compliance requirements guiding field medical work.
- Accurately document stakeholder interactions, insights, follow-ups, training, expenses, and other essential records timely.
- Comply fully with Cosette policies, PhRMA Code, OIG guidance, FDA regulations, and federal/state laws, including reporting adverse events and product complaints.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a terminal scientific or clinical degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, or DO.
- At least 2 years of experience as an oncology MSL or an equivalent field medical role.
- Proven experience engaging oncology KOLs, academic centers, community oncology sites, clinical investigators, or cancer care teams within the assigned territory.
- Strong familiarity with oncology disease states, treatment options, clinical trial design, data interpretation, treatment guidelines, and compliant scientific communications.
- Ability to effectively engage expert external stakeholders and communicate complex scientific topics clearly, accurately, credibly, and compliantly.
Preferred Experience
- Background supporting product launches or relaunches, congress participation, advisory boards, scientific communication, investigator-initiated research, evidence generation, or medical insight activities.
- Knowledge of oncology-related channels such as insurance requirements, specialty pharmacies, integrated delivery networks, and regional oncology networks.
Required Skills
- Strong scientific and clinical insight with skills in interpreting and presenting complex clinical data and therapeutic concepts to expert audiences.
- Excellent presentation, scientific communication, relationship-building, and engagement abilities in both virtual and in-person settings.
- Self-driven, well-organized, accountable, capable of managing a large field territory with high scientific integrity and judgment.
Travel Requirements
- This role is field-based with home office support within the North/Northeast oncology territory; candidates must reside within the territory with proximity to a major airport for regional travel.
- Travel will be approximately 50-75%, including overnight stays to cover territory visits, internal meetings, medical congresses, advisory boards, and other business occasions.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and meet healthcare-industry representative credentialing requirements to access facilities.
