Position Overview
We are currently seeking a knowledgeable Inpatient Content Management Consultant located in the United States. This remote full-time role offers a unique opportunity to engage with a healthcare-focused team dedicated to enhancing clinical documentation integrity (CDI), inpatient coding, and healthcare compliance. The position involves crafting educational materials, training programs, and clinical resources that support healthcare organizations in adapting to changing industry standards. Collaborating with various teams, the consultant provides expert insights while contributing to the creation and refinement of high-quality learning tools for both internal use and external clients. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about healthcare education, continuous improvement, and influencing best practices related to coding, documentation, reimbursement, and quality enhancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and improve educational content and training resources addressing CDI, inpatient coding, and compliance topics.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in CDI, inpatient coding, DRG methodologies, risk adjustment, quality indicators, utilization management, population health, and coding compliance.
- Work closely with technical writers, coders, and clinical staff to develop and review accurate, detailed documents and educational content.
- Organize and execute recurring educational sessions, including scheduling, preparing presentations, supporting speakers, and managing virtual events.
- Collaborate with both internal departments and external customers to deliver educational assistance and promote best documentation and coding practices.
- Monitor updates in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry literature to maintain up-to-date learning materials.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and security protocols in all related activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with minimum eight years in clinical coding or acute care CDI, or a High School Diploma/GED accompanied by at least eleven years of relevant experience.
- Professional certifications such as RHIA, RHIT with CCS, or a current Registered Nurse (RN) license with at least five years of acute care experience.
- Minimum five years of experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity and two years in inpatient coding.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRG) methodologies, clinical documentation, healthcare reimbursement, and revenue cycle management.
- Understanding of risk adjustment methodologies, utilization management, population health initiatives, and healthcare quality metrics.
- Capable of interpreting regulatory standards and coding updates to develop precise educational content.
- Strong skills in written communication, teamwork, organization, and public presentations.
- A Master's degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or related healthcare fields is advantageous.
- Past consulting or leadership roles in CDI, coding, or Health Information Management within acute hospital environments are preferred.
- Legal authorization to work in the US without need for current or future sponsorship.
