Job Overview
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is offering a full-time Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker position based in the North Outpatient Department (OPD) with the opportunity to advance to a Band 3 Health Care Assistant role after an initial 8-month period. The role involves 37.5 working hours per week with shifts scheduled between 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Sunday, according to service demands and includes rotation across five main clinic sites serving specialties such as Oncology, Minor Operations, ENT, Rheumatology, Breast, Orthopaedics, Trauma Allergy, Gastroenterology, Colorectal, Sleep, Cardiology, and Ophthalmology.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional patient-centered care and act as an advocate for patients, nursing, and medical staff.
- Support and mentor new staff and learners within the department.
- Comply with Frimley Health guidelines and uphold safe working practices.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of outpatient services in alignment with the Trust's future strategy.
Requirements
- Current legal right to work in the UK, meeting eligibility for government apprenticeships.
- Competency in spoken and written English at a high standard.
- Strong communication, numeracy, and literacy skills.
- Basic IT literacy and customer care abilities.
- Awareness of patient confidentiality, safeguarding, and respectful diversity practices.
- Capacity to work flexibly across varied shifts and adapt to a busy clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Experiences
- Experience working in an outpatient setting or healthcare environment.
- Vocational or relevant Level 2 qualifications or equivalent experience in personal care.
- Familiarity with electronic patient records systems such as Epic.
Training and Development
- Participation in a full induction programme and a competency-based appraisal system.
- Opportunity to complete Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship and Care Certificate training within approximately eight months, enabling progression to Band 3.
- Access to formal study and in-house training for professional growth.
Additional Information
- Cross-site working across multiple hospitals including King Edward VII and Parapet Breast Unit (Windsor), St Mark’s Hospital (Maidenhead), Heatherwood Hospital (Ascot), and Wexham Park Hospital (Slough).
- Working shifts may include any day of the week to meet patient service needs.
