About the Role

Join the Irish Wheelchair Association, ranked 2nd in The Sunday Independent's “Ireland's Best Employer 2025” list, as a committed Healthcare Assistant (Personal Assistant) serving the North East Dublin region including Clontarf, Marino, and Clarehall areas. Positions are available on full-time and part-time schedules with varying hours per week (15/20, 20/30, or 30/39 hours). Applicants should specify their availability.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay scale currently ranges between €16.21 and €18.03 per hour according to experience, with enhanced rates before 8am and after 8pm (€20.26-€22.54), Sundays (€24.32-€27.05), and public holidays (€32.42-€36.06). This scale includes a pending 2% salary rise in 2026 aligned with the WRC interim agreement for Section 39 organizations. Work Schedule and Location

Healthcare Assistants are expected to work weekdays and every second weekend at clients’ homes and within their communities in North East Dublin.

Role Purpose and Responsibilities

The role focuses on enabling members to be as independent as possible in daily life by providing support in personal care, domestic assistance, social and educational activities, travel, and companionship. Team coordination is important, working closely with home support staff, Assisted Living Service Coordinators, and scheduling personnel.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must hold a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Homecare Support or a relevant Social Care qualification, such as Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, or Health Care Support, including minor components in safety, health, workplace policies, care skills, and support. A full, clean driving license is mandatory. Candidates must possess a kind and caring attitude, use their own smartphone for visit check-ins, and show a flexible, person-centered approach with strong confidentiality and customer service focus.

Effective communication and influencing skills, motivation and empowerment of clients, thorough planning and organizing, and commitment to quality, accountability, and customer focus are essential competencies.
