Healthcare Assistant - North East

About the Role

Ranked second in The Irish Independent's "Ireland's Best Employer 2025," the Irish Wheelchair Association is seeking dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistants (Personal Assistants) to join their team serving the North East area of Ireland. The locations requiring coverage include Dundalk, Drogheda, Ardee and its surrounding areas, as well as Summerhill and Enfield.

Position Details

• Part-time role offering 20 hours per week.
• Work schedule primarily Monday to Friday, with availability required for every second weekend.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly wages range from €16.22 to €18.03 depending on experience.
• Additional pay rates: before 8am and after 8pm - €20.27/hour; Sundays - €24.33/hour; Public holidays - €32.44/hour.
• Paid mileage for travel between clients.

Job Purpose

The core objective of this role is to assist members in achieving the highest possible independence in daily living activities, which includes personal care, household assistance, social and educational support, travel help, and companionship. The position operates within the homes and local communities of the members served.

Key Relationships and Coordination

The role requires maintaining effective communication and collaboration with other home carers, as well as the ALS Coordinator and scheduling staff to ensure quality care delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Mandatory: Full Major Award at QQI Level 5 in Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, Healthcare Support or a related field.
• Previous experience working in a caregiving capacity is essential.
• Must be reliable, trustworthy, and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written English, are required.
• Possession of a full driving license and access to a personal car is essential.
• Willingness to drive the member's vehicle is preferred.
