About the Role

Join Bluebird Care Ireland as a Healthcare Assistant in Portlaoise, supporting clients in their homes with compassion and professionalism. Be part of a nurse-led organisation dedicated to transforming care across Ireland with 25 offices nationwide.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with personal care including toileting and mobility support.
  • Help clients with meal preparation and light household tasks, including occasional basic shopping.
  • Support individuals with Alzheimer's, Dementia, and high-dependency care needs.
  • Oversee medication supervision when required.
  • Follow each client's unique Care Plan accurately.
  • Offer companionship and promote social interaction to reduce isolation.
  • Encourage and foster client independence whenever possible.
  • Communicate any health observations or concerns promptly to the office team.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with health and safety guidelines.
  • Document care activities and any incidents clearly and precisely.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Possess QQI Level 5 certification with completed modules in Care Skills and Care of the Older Person.
  • Have at least one year experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Hold a clear Garda Vetting certificate; International Police Clearance as needed.
  • Agree to provide a fit to work certificate.
  • Possess a full driving license and have reliable access to personal transport.
  • Be comfortable navigating routes using Google Maps.
  • Demonstrate excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Show a positive, dependable, and respectful attitude in professional settings.
  • Be fully eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
