Overview

InisCare seeks compassionate Healthcare Assistants to provide high-quality home care in Drogheda and neighboring locations. This role demands a personal vehicle due to travel needs. The focus is on helping individuals live safe, comfortable, and dignified lives at home through personal care and daily support.

Key Duties

  • Implement current safety standards, including safe person moving and handling techniques.
  • Immediately relay any safety or welfare concerns about customers or staff to the manager.
  • Report suspected safeguarding issues promptly.
  • Maintain precise, factual daily records of all care activities per shift.
  • Preserve customer confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate in required training sessions and adhere to professional boundaries in care delivery.
  • Provide personal care, medication reminders, meal assistance, and light housekeeping with dignity and respect.
  • Promote customer independence and decision-making capabilities.
  • Engage customers in conversation suitably aligned with their communication abilities.
  • Attend assigned shifts punctually; notify the office promptly if unable to attend or delayed, and avoid direct contact with customers about absences.

Required Qualifications and Training

  • Certified QQI Level 5 Healthcare Award or its equivalent.
  • Completion of mandatory HSE LAND trainings: Children’s First, Safeguarding, Dementia Care, GDPR, Infection Prevention and Control, Hand Hygiene, and PPE protocols.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Perform basic patient care such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
  • Assist with mobility and light exercise.
  • Strong verbal and written communication paired with active listening.
  • Follow directions and established care protocols consistently.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship.
  • Competence with health care related tools and equipment.
  • Organize and prioritize care tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and emotional sensitivity.
  • Adapt to diverse needs and surroundings with flexibility.
  • Commit to continuous learning and upholding ethical confidentiality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team and support colleagues to foster a positive workplace.
  • Maintain reliability, punctuality, physical stamina, and professional presentation.
