Overview

InisCare is dedicated to supporting caregivers with strong leadership to provide compassionate, reliable home care that enables clients to live meaningful and active lives. The Healthcare Supervisor is accountable for ensuring superior, person-focused care services are consistently delivered, leading a team of care assistants, complying with healthcare regulations, and raising care quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out supervision visits and conduct risk evaluations of care scenarios
  • Manage onboarding of new customers, establishing comprehensive care plans and risk assessments
  • Oversee recruitment and training of new healthcare assistants, including competency assessments
  • Continuously assess and monitor the quality and effectiveness of care services delivered
  • Collaborate with the Care Manager to prepare, review, and update client care plans
  • Promptly address and support resolution of any client or staff issues that emerge
  • Foster positive workplace relationships and proactively resolve conflicts when they occur
  • Coordinate staff holiday schedules to ensure service levels remain uninterrupted
  • Build and nurture trusting and transparent relationships with clients
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the management team, including hands-on care tasks
  • Complete and submit incident reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Update carers’ competency assessments and training records as needed
  • Report daily on complaints to the Branch Manager, providing full details of any personally handled issues
  • Conduct client reviews every quarter to ensure service satisfaction and needs fulfillment
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to healthcare assistants to enhance their performance
  • Offer on-call support outside of normal hours as required
  • Maintain high healthcare standards in line with InisCare policies
  • Uphold client dignity, privacy, and independence consistently during care delivery

Qualifications & Training

  • Possession of QQI Level 6 Health Care Award or an equivalent qualification
  • Valid clean driver's license with access to a personal vehicle
  • Completion of mandatory training modules including Children's First, Safeguarding, Dementia Care, GDPR compliance, Infection Prevention and Control, Hand Hygiene, and PPE usage in community healthcare (all via HSE LAND)

Skills and Competencies

  • Practical knowledge of patient care activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting mobility and exercise
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with active listening abilities
  • Competence in following healthcare protocols and instructions precisely
  • Ability to provide emotional support and companionship to clients
  • Familiarity with common healthcare equipment and devices
  • Effective time management and prioritization of tasks
  • Fluency in English and proficiency with Microsoft Office and other PC skills
  • Empathy, compassion, and sensitivity to emotional needs
  • Team-oriented approach with ability to support colleagues and foster a positive work environment
  • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic healthcare needs and learn new skills
  • Attention to detail in monitoring, reporting, and incident handling
  • Physical endurance to meet the demands of the role
  • Reliability, punctuality, professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities

Experience

Candidates should have significant and reputable prior experience working within a healthcare setting.

Working Hours

  • Work schedule consists of either 3 or 4 days per week
  • Shifts are 12 hours long, totaling 84 hours over a fortnight
  • Required to work every second weekend
  • Availability between 8 AM to 8 PM daily with a 1-hour break
