About the Role

The Healthcare Assistant position in Bray involves aiding clients with personal care like bathing and dressing, supporting incontinence needs, meal preparation, and assisting with light housekeeping tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement current safety procedures, particularly person moving and handling protocols
- Bring any concerns regarding clients’ or colleagues' safety to the attention of your manager
- Report any safeguarding issues or suspicions promptly to management
- Maintain accurate and factual daily records documenting all tasks completed during shifts
- Preserve client confidentiality at all times
- Participate in all assigned training sessions and work within safe, professional limits
- Complete every assigned task with respect and dignity towards the client, whether medication prompts, personal care, or meal assistance
- Promote client autonomy and encourage their decision-making
- Engage clients in conversation during shifts, regardless of their verbal or cognitive capabilities, maintaining professionalism
- Attend scheduled shifts reliably and notify the office timely if unable to attend or delayed; avoid contacting clients directly about absences
Qualifications and Training
- Possess QQI Level 5 Health Care Award or an equivalent qualification
- Complete mandatory trainings including Children’s First, Safeguarding, Dementia, GDPR, Infection Prevention and Control basics, Hand Hygiene, and PPE procedures via HSE LAND and AMRIC platforms
Skills and Competencies
- Fundamental patient care including bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Assistance with mobility and exercise routines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with active listening abilities
- Ability to follow instructions and healthcare protocols effectively
- Providing companionship and emotional support to clients
- Familiarity with healthcare tools and equipment
- Organizing tasks and managing time efficiently
- Empathy, compassion, and responsiveness to emotional needs
- Collaborative teamwork and support for colleagues
- Adaptability to evolving client needs and environments

Experience
While prior paid experience of one year is advantageous, it is not mandatory if the candidate holds a QQI Level 5 qualification.
