Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and people-oriented Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to support our manufacturing facility in Otara and partially our Auckland office. This key role involves collaborating closely with operators and management to promote a culture centered on health, safety, and environmental responsibility. Success in this position requires fostering accountability, engagement, and ongoing improvements throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the HSE Lead in executing the HSE strategy, annual plans, and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement across the site.
• Offer practical HSE guidance, mentoring, and coaching to employees and leaders, including facilitating risk assessments and implementing mitigating controls.
• Contribute to maintaining and enhancing the Health & Safety Management System ensuring alignment with legal and business mandates.
• Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and oversee corrective action tracking.
• Arrange and carry out workplace inspections, audits, and compliance monitoring activities to enhance performance.
• Collaborate with staff and supervisors on injury management and recovery efforts, including Return to Work planning.
• Deliver HSE training sessions, toolbox talks, meetings, and foster worker involvement and consultation processes to strengthen HSE culture and participation.
• Track HSE and environmental metrics, analyze trends, generate reports, and support compliance and sustainability programs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Formal qualification in Health, Safety & Environment with substantial relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, able to engage effectively with both floor staff and management.
• Strong influencing skills to guide without direct authority and mentor business partners.
• Ability to operate under pressure with strong integrity, confidentiality, and adaptability to change.
• A practical mindset oriented towards continuous improvement.
