Role Overview
This role presents a remarkable opportunity for a dedicated finance expert to lead and support a financial management team within a complex healthcare environment. The selected candidate will be actively engaged in developing services and facilitating the delivery of top-tier financial management services to a blend of clinical and non-clinical units.
Organizational Context
The employing organization manages an annual budget of £1.8 billion and is structured into 7 Clinical Management Groups (CMGs) and 9 Corporate Directorates. This position is categorized as Band 8b and is focused on supporting a large Clinical Management Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the chief financial liaison for the designated CMG or Operational Area such as Estates and Facilities or Corporate Directorates, providing expert advice on all financial matters.
- Support achievement of financial and non-financial objectives linked to operational delivery and financial planning.
- Collaborate closely with clinical, non-clinical CMG members, wider finance teams, and senior management to enable sound financial decisions.
- Participate fully as a vital member of the Operational Area Board, offering strategic financial counsel beyond routine financial issues.
- Ensure a rigorous and effective financial control environment is maintained within the Operational Area.
- Produce comprehensive financial reports and forecasts, highlighting any necessary corrective measures related to operational performance and cost-saving targets.
- Act as the primary gatekeeper of financial data related to cost saving achievements for reporting to senior finance leaders and external authorities such as NHSE/I.
- Contribute to the organization's culture and staff improvement initiatives underway within the finance service.
