Job description
Overview
The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a highly driven Clinical Scientist at Band 7 level to join their Nuclear Medicine team. This position will be shared between University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) and Northampton General Hospital (NGH), supporting a comprehensive nuclear medicine service including molecular radiotherapy spanning four locations.
Role and Responsibilities
The appointed scientist will ideally be HCPC registered or close to registration and possess experience in diverse aspects of Nuclear Medicine. The role involves applying extensive scientific expertise to support both diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine services. The scientist will coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams including medical, scientific, technical, and nursing staff to ensure quality patient care. The candidate will be responsible for managing and prioritizing their workload effectively.
Facilities and Services
At UHL, the service utilizes five gamma cameras (one dedicated cardiac and four SPECT/CT), with molecular radiotherapy treatments such as iodine ablation, thyrotoxicosis therapy, Lutetium-177 PRRT, and Xofigo. At UHN, four gamma cameras are available including one cardiac, one standard, and two with CT capabilities, offering iodine ablation, thyrotoxicosis therapy, and Xofigo treatments. Both trusts operate radiopharmacies onsite. Additionally, PET-CT imaging is provided at NGH and Glenfield through AML, with UHL responsible for RPA, RWA, and MPE services.
Working Conditions and Flexibility
The role offers flexibility in site attendance and includes possibilities for remote working. Candidates without HCPC registration will be employed under AfC Annex 21 terms.
