Notion is an AI-enabled collaborative workspace designed to bring teams and agents together in one place, where knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools coexist to accelerate and clarify work. Millions of users, from individuals to large enterprises, rely on Notion's platform. Our employees, known as Notinos, are the pioneers crafting the future of work, focusing on durable solutions that honor the human aspect of great work in the AI era.
Role Overview
The Head of Early Career Recruiting will take charge of and expand Notion’s strategy for early career talent acquisition across the organization. Having established strong momentum on the engineering front, this role aims to broaden the early talent pipeline into other business areas. The position requires active collaboration with company leaders, university networks, and the talent market to attract highly skilled emerging professionals aligned with Notion's values. Candidates should bring a deep understanding of university recruiting, internship-to-hire conversions, and early career talent pipelines, while embracing AI-first approaches to optimize team performance and processes.
This position is based in San Francisco with an on-site work schedule including Anchor Days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for collaborative team efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global strategy for early career recruitment, encompassing internships, new graduate hiring, and entry-level pipelines across various functions and geographies.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of early career recruiters, maintaining rigorous hiring standards.
- Provide strategic guidance to business stakeholders by delivering market insights, compensation benchmarks, and perspectives on early talent sources including campus recruits and first-job candidates.
- Champion the integration of AI-driven tools and automation to innovate sourcing, evaluation, and hiring workflows within the early career recruiting team.
- Design and refine programs and processes to accelerate hiring timelines without compromising candidate quality, such as internship framework, conversion strategies, offers, and intern-to-full-time pathways.
- Track and analyze critical recruitment metrics, including conversion rates, quality of hires, sourcing channels, and hiring speed, applying these insights to inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with marketing and storytelling teams to enhance employer branding and promote Notion as a leading destination for next-generation talent.
- Work closely with Notion's Ambassador Program to nurture community ties between early career talent and the company ecosystem, leveraging advocates to build robust hiring pipelines.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of four years' leadership experience in recruiting focused on early career talent, including university relations, internship programs, new graduate recruitment, and early-in-career hiring across multiple functions.
- Innovative mindset on attracting and evaluating early talent using assessments like coding challenges, work trials, and understanding evolving channels for workforce entrants.
- Proven ability to establish and scale effective early talent teams and programs within fast-paced, growth-oriented organizations.
- Strong strategic and operational skills with the ability to both set direction and manage intensive recruiting cycles hands-on.
- Analytical proficiency demonstrated through data-informed decision-making in areas such as conversion analytics and program effectiveness.
- Trusted consultant to senior executives with credible market knowledge to influence hiring strategies and investments.
- Comfortable and experienced with AI tools and workflows, possessing a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement through AI integration.
- In-depth understanding of early career compensation trends, talent markets, and partnerships with universities, bootcamps, and talent communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in program management or talent development, including creating structured early career developmental initiatives like rotations or mentorship programs.
- Demonstrated success in implementing AI-driven transformations in early career recruitment functions.
- Background in designing diversity recruitment programs targeting historically black colleges and universities, community colleges, or underrepresented groups with measurable impact.
- Established connections within university recruiting and early talent communities.
Compensation and Policies
Notion offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The expected base salary range for this San Francisco or New York City-based role is $225,000 to $275,000 annually, adjusted based on candidate experience, role complexity, and location.
About AI
While deep AI expertise is not required for all roles, all Notinos are encouraged to be curious, explore AI collaboration, and routinely integrate AI tools to enhance their work, making processes more efficient and easier to build upon.
