Role Overview
As a Software Engineer joining as a new graduate, you will contribute to enhancing core user interactions and accelerating value discovery within Notion. Your work will involve solving significant challenges with growing independence, producing code impacting millions of users, and owning meaningful projects including key technical decisions. Collaborating closely with product, design, and data experts, you will influence the future work environment through AI-driven solutions.
This position may be part of various AI-focused teams, with responsibilities potentially including:
- Developing AI-powered product features from concept to deployment, including user experience, APIs, data retrieval, orchestration, and ensuring quality and stability.
- Optimizing model integrations by enhancing latency, cost efficiency, safety, robustness, and supporting necessary infrastructure for model deployment and experimentation.
- Building evaluation systems and employing automated and human-in-the-loop testing methodologies to assess and enhance both model and product performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to prototype and launch AI-enhanced product improvements.
- Take ownership of scoped production projects such as integrating novel models or techniques into workflows, implementing monitoring and safety mechanisms, or boosting performance metrics.
- Support evaluation and iteration by constructing evaluation datasets, executing experiments, analyzing outcomes, and translating insights into actionable product or system adjustments.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing or holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related disciplines, with availability to commence full-time employment before July 27, 2026.
- Completed previous internships.
- Emerging proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Typescript, React, Python, among others.
Essential Skills
- Experience in rapid prototyping and iterative development including AI/ML exposure from coursework, projects, internships, or hackathons.
- Familiarity with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL and capacity to translate ideas into functioning features with guidance.
- Strong problem-solving approach characterized by curiosity, methodical breakdown of ambiguous challenges, and responsiveness to feedback.
- Effective communication skills, openness to public learning, and productive collaboration with engineers, product managers, designers, and data teams.
- A focus on delivering impactful solutions prioritizing user needs and considering the large-scale effect of product features.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Notion technology stack including React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Postgres.
- Demonstrated passion for building software solutions personally or professionally.
- Interest in the societal impact of technology and an appreciation for historical computing pioneers such as Ada Lovelace, Douglas Engelbart, and Alan Kay.
Compensation and Policies
Notion offers competitive salary packages, equity, and benefits. Compensation for this position is influenced by factors including location, role complexity, and applicant experience. For San Francisco and New York locations, the salary range is estimated between $126,000 and $146,000 annually.
